Matt Damon and Frances McDormand star as pitchmen for a natural gas company trying to purchase rights in a small town to tap into the available resources, but issues about fracking arise when a stranger (John Krasinski) comes to town working for an environmental group. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone Magazine writes, "Promised Land is a potent and powerful look at how the stressed economy is stressing farm communities across America."
